La Fee Verte by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff

Another Scrapbook Stamp Society DT card from me, as I have loads in the pipeline so to speak, lol. This one's a beautiful Image by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff La Fee Verte, though I have no idea what that exactly means in french, verte is definitely green, Fee I suppose is a Fairy, but I'm not sure lol, but anyway, it is a stunner, and a lovely complex design, that you can loose yourself in for quite some time.
Which is exactly what I did! This card has been in the making for about 2 weeks, not because it was hard to do, but I did take my time over it as there were things I wanted to try, and then of course I lost my hard drive, so now I have a crate of disks sitting here waiting to be loaded onto a new hard drive, I lost 850GB in the crash, so its going to be a long time getting everything back on!!
But back to the card.

Base card I made 8x8" in Centura pearl.
Butterflies were cut on the Happy Cut, using the Butterfly die that came with the machine, from a mega pack of 12x12" papers by K&Co,
Base paper is a design by William Morris, Rabbit something. I cant tell you which one  it is as the name is on the back of the paper, lol.
Base Matt is a Cloud design by Kanban.
Dark green paper as a top Matt.

I duplicated the fairy figure in My Craft Studio, as I knew exactly what I was intending to do with it.
But this design was a bit of a step into unknown territory for me..........my thinking: Butterflies have brown or black bodies.........so the body for the wings ..........lets try a darker skin tone than I am used to........
I dont know if I got the skin tone right, I think I have. But I'm not definite, as its the first time, I have tried it.
The main base image and the duplicated fairy were all coloured with the same promarkers...
Pine, Forest Green, Lime green, Fresh Meadow, Indgio Blue, Sky Blue, Cobalt Blue, Arctic Blue, Amythyst, Orchid, Fuchia Pink, Dusky Rose, Rose Pink, Antique Pink, Ruby, Sunkissed Pink, Pale Pink, Sandstone, Cocoa, Cinamon, Chestnut.
Then I used a silver Sakura Pen for the decoration on the dress, and used versamark and clear embossing powder to glaze the fairy. I fixed her on top of the original with some clear glue. I deliberately left some of the edge of her dress trailing outside the main Image, to draw the veiwer in.

New Zombie Images available soon from SSS

Well We have some different images coming soon at the Scrapbook Stamp Society. The Zombies have arrived in Style!

When I was offered this Digi, I was told to think outside the box. Which is Literally what I did, though it doesnt look like it from this shot, does it.
I needed some things to build my design around, and I dont have a huge collection of Zombie stuff in my stash so I had to turn to Goths for what I needed, Sorry Jems Designs!
When I think of zombies, they're green, or grey, and generally unhealthy looking, and always looking to surprise the unwary, which is where the photo below came in.

Strangely it must be a very weird football team she is a cheer leader for. Can you imagine a game of American football with teams of Zombies? There would be bits flying off all over the place!!
So I borrowed an Idea I saw round Christmas Time on Create and Craft with Wendy from Kanban. and created a folding box for the front of my card, using some Blood red pearlised paper. I am going to try to figure out how to do small video tutorials this week I promise, lol.
I used several sheets from Jems Designs Gothic Beauties CD, as I needed Coffins, and cemetery stuff lol, and used one of the backing papers and a tag, and a Gatefold design piece.
I printed the Coffin on photopaper adding my own wording, the Gatefold piece I replicated, and printed out twice on my Laser printer, and the backing sheet was printed using an Ink jet printer. So you have super shiny, quite shiny and Matt. I took a strip of Self adhesive Craft Lace Border, and coloured it with Tim Holtz's Black Soot Distress ink, direct from the pad. I used 3 white flowers from a collection by the Glitter Girls, and again coloured them with Black Soot, mixed with some water, then Dried with my Heat gun.
Zimberly Zombie is from a new Line By Heather Valentin, over at SSS, released today, and I coloured her with Promarkers, Tea Green, Warm Grey 1, Cool Grey 4, Red, Soft Peach, Caramel, Buttercup, and Cornflower. Then I trimmed carefully around her and mounted her on some Fluorescent green card, which was trimmed to shape.
I mounted the box on the front of the card, and then placed the gatefold sections over the flaps, I cut a small slit in one side for the ribbon to affix to, and the mounted the coffin to the middle of the folded box, fixing another piece of ribbon behind the coffin, to form a closure. I took some2 strips of 220micron Acetate and scored it at centimeter intervals, the folded it to form concertina springs, and fixed then to the back of Zimberly, before fixing it to the centre of the folding box.
She is quite hard to squeeze back in her box to hide her, but she  does jump out of the Coffin Quite nicely, lol.
I think she is a giggle, and I dont "do" Zombies lol,

Witching Hour version 2

Witching Hour version 2 by Heather Valentin, over at Scrapbook Stamp Society has taken a full day to do!
Its not that its overly complicated, just that here's a lot of colouring in to be done!!
Here it is:

No.....the picture is perfect you're not seeing things, and you dont need an eye test!! Its a double Gate-fold card!

I printed her off 3 times, slightly smaller than A5, onto some Centura Pearl Paper, as it tends to bleach the printed ink a bit, and to do what I wanted to do, I didn't want the lines too bold.
So now to colour, I started by colouring the first face half nice, half nasty, trying to blend the 2 sets of colouring together, a little bit tricky, but possible as I kept nasty Witch's face and skin mainly white, I was quite surprised that the Pearlescent sheen shows through the Promarker ink as well as it does. Splitting the face in half is easy as Heather has given clues as to where the change occurs, and you just need to keep your eye on the line under the nose, and the Peak of her hairline, doing the hands was trickier!
If I listed all the Promarkers I used we could be here for a week!!, So I am not going to, I leave it up to your imagination, as I have now given you 3 images of Witching Hour for inspiration.


What I am going to do, is to explain how I did the double Gate-fold, which was very tricky!! Laying aside the Human Witch picture for a bit, we need to cut the Nasty and Nice Witches up! I said Put Human Witch to one side for a  minute, Do Not cut it!!
Firstly, the main image is easy to cut, just line up on the Peak of the hair, and the line under the nose with a ruler. You have your cutting line.........but before you proceed consider how people are going to open the card? I used the cloak clasp at her neck, and on one version I cut round it to the left, and on the other I cut round it to the right, as they are cut in different directions, it makes it easier to lift the flaps without taking the middle version with the top one when you open it! But you could use the Vial stopper, or a fingernail.
Next mount them on some card, I used a silver Mirri embossed card, but dont cut out the hollow where the stopper is missing, as you need that to form the lip the stopper top will fall on. BUT do cut round the Stopper on the other half!!
The I matted them onto some more card, you really want it to be strong, as its going to be pulled alot on. So that done, I needed to start building the card itsef!!
For the outside I used a Dark Grey pearlescent card, and placed the larger of the sides right up against the edge of the card-stock, trying to be reasonably even with the top and bottom Borders. Next came Nice witch, and again using the larger of the pieces lined it up with the edge of the image, now take the Nice Witch and leave a margin to the side, not too big, but big enough to give some sense of placement, and score or mark it. And then Fold it, and burnish it, remember its got an outer Jacket to go on so the creases need to be strong!, Now place some DST on the back of Human Witch, and just lift the corner tapes, so that you are able to move the image without it sticking, and can press it into place when your happy with it, and slide it under the Nice Witch, lining up the facial features. You don't want it to be out of line as the image is supposed to flow from one part to the next. When your happy that its exactly right, then press down, and remove the rest of the backing of the DST by pulling on the exposed edges,
 here just in case I have you all confused....

Okay? All as clear as mud, then I shall proceed........


So now we need to concentrate on applying the second half of the image, so make sure that you have the same amount of Margin on the other side of Human witch, and score (it doesn't matter if the card is too big, we can trim it), and fold, now we need the edge of the card to meet EXACTLY the cut edge of Nice witch, If it doesn't, (and mine didn't!!) then cut a piece from another sheet of the same card stock, and extend it until it does. If you need to trim, then fold it onto Human witch, and then fold the image of Nice Witch over on top of it, and mark it with a knife.
See easy! hehehe I'm a masochist I know!! Trim, and add the slimmer of the two sides, trying to get the middle to meet and line up as close as you can.
Okay, so that's number one done, just one more to do..... and just do exactly the same as before , If your card stock was too short before, it's likely that it will be again, so this time, as you will be able to see it more, extend along the back of the card. Leave a bit of a margin to the next card layer, so that it will close properly, too close and it wont shut!!!
So tutorial over, back to the description.................


I needed images for the inside of the card flaps, and they had to be of a matching theme, so back to Jem's Designs, for images from the Spell Bound Cd, I found three that were suitable, one an insert, one a book mark, and one a plain topper, I resized them in My Craft Studio, and added sentiments............." A spell for thee on thy Birthday" and "Knowledge".  Then as I was struggling for a Nice witch images, having already used the Bookmark, and insert from the same design, I ended up looking at Debbie More's CD, Medieval Magic, where I used the Autumnal witch, holding the Moon.
These images were stuck to the inside of the cards, matching, good with good, and nasty with nasty. Then as I needed some thing to make sure that it all seemed to flow together I used a Roll of Silver textured leaf peel off, I would tell you who it was by at this point but RIO has eaten the packaging...............Rrrrrrio!!!, no he's hiding!! (For those of you who are not in the know, so to speak, Rio/Tank is our 10 mth old Rottwieller pup, soon to be deceased!! Only Kidding, but the sooner Hubby builds my gate for me the happier I'll be!!!). As it was a roll, there is no join going from one page to the other, and makes it flow better, ties it all together nicely, even across the Plain Back of the card, where I will put a square of Card so it can be written on.
Right this has taken for ever to write, well okay, I did have to cook Dinner, and eat it, so it just seems like it has been forever, and now to post it, as I know Heather Valentin is desperate to see it properly, Heather hun, next time, can you do it a bit more central, pretty please? xxx


Hopefully, you like her and like what I have done with her, and you will pop to the Scrapbook Stamp Society, and get her from Here and have a go your self, I do have ideas about trying it on acetate, and all sorts, but I'm not going to do that to Witching Hour, I will wait for Heather to come out with a new one so I can Play some more!

Well the title of the post says what I have been working on today..........

Its actually the first time I have ever made a Wordbook!! Ok I know its simple compared to what some of you out there can produce, but I dont think its too bad for a first try! After all we all have to start somewhere!!


So, where did I get this? As most of you might have guessed from reading my posts, I do a lot of CD crafting, and have thousands of images from one particular Company, My Craft Studio, which was where I found this.....but it took some finding, flicking though all the folders of art work on my pc, could I spot any wordbooks? No of course not!! Yet I knew they were in there!! Okay then, I thought get windows to do a search for me....................yep you can see where this is going cant you..................2 hrs later, it was still searching!! And it hadnt found any!! Stupid windows!!
So onto the My Craft Studio Club Forum, I am a Platinum member, so can chat to the lovelies in there, who I know will help me out...........Post asking where it is.
Back to the windows search, I am really fed up by now, and halt the search thinking, one of the club will come back to me with an answer!
Next day, open the MCS program, to have a bit of a play, as it tends to be where I start a project, and scroll through the folders, right to the botoom, guess what? Yep there's a folder named Wonderful Wordbooks!! DOH!
So call off the hunt on the forum, and dive into the folder, hmmn, what to choose........Thanks seemed appropriate and will fit in with a couple of Blog Challenges I spotted, but I didnt like the sepia tone the original image had, so off to my effects tab, and change them all to monochrome, by adjusting the saturation, print it all off, and start cutting and sticking the pages together.


So now I have 6 pieces of Black, white and grey card, too monochrome, sorry!!


So out come the Promarkers, getting a bit of a beating just lately, and try to distinguish what the pattern is, took some finding, but I started on the letter T, and grabbed the Red promarker, and started coloring the Poppy in. Only I didnt realise it was a Poppy at the time, sigh! Then thought hmmn, whats that lumpy bit, and that one,? ended up with them all spread over the Workdesk, squinting at the pictures, until I realised what I was looking at, ok ok I know you lot know, but I didnt at the time!!! So out came the Spring Green, and Henna colours as well to pick out the stems, buds, and seed heads.


Ok so FINALLY the pages are done, now to do the letters................I want to Keep the red theme going, but obviously I need some other colour, so Yellow, and orange to blend to the red? Ok give that a go, as its only card, and ink, its not made of gold, so I can throw it away if I dont like it, remember that ladies, as I really hate throwing card away!!! Notice me not paying any attention to what I preached!!


Eventually the colouring of the letters is done, but I'm not too happy with the Orange, a bit too brassy for me, so tone it all down with the Blender pen, only now the yellow and red are too faded, so colour again with the red and yellow, could go on for a while...........
Eventually call it a day, and start punching the holes for a small piece of Ribbon I found, root a Heart Charm out of my Stash, it came out of a cracker in 2010 and I knew it would come in handy one day, tied it, and basically thought enough is enough!!

Scraps come in Handy!!

Okay, I am a hoarder I think!!

As mentioned in my other posts, I WAS tidying up. And I found 2 toppers, again from Hunky Dory, and thank goodness for the magazine so I can name them, these two were from the Contemporary Card Toppers, Dashing Reindeer.
I also found a card I had started to make, well I had embossed some Gold Mirri card on my Hougie Board a while ago, in a starburst effect, and mounted it on some plain Black 300gsm Card, but thats as far as I had got with it.
So.....gold, black, brown? Ok I'll give it a go........
so I needed to bring in some more Brown to make this work, but I didnt want to detract from the Gold Mirri too much, but it did need some thing to tone it down........Why I thought of Brown Glitter I have NO IDEA!!

So 3 strips of strong red double sided tape, 2 at one end, and one along the bottom, brown glitter, which I picked up from Doncaster, and some cream satin Ribbon, Promarkered with the Umber Pen, card finally finished, only been about 4 months in the making!!!
