Paper Crafting Journey Challenge

Hi guys, well this months theme is Mythical! Anything not proven real at this time! so Cyclops, Medusa, fairies Mermaids, Dragons, but Not Kimono Dragons, are all fair game for this challenge.
So here's my creation, now you have to excuse the picture as Acetate really doesnt photo very well at all!

This is the best one I got, kneeling on the front step, door open, no flash, card propped up on a stool, son stood behind it, holding the paper, cor was it hard work, note to self, use acetate less!!

I used the beautiful Mermaid Digi, and I have tried this technique before. I used promarkers and a Silver pen for the image, and my ecraft to cut out the frame, and the dolphin border. Layered onto some navy card stock.
I took an acetate dome, and put some water and blue mica powder in it, and glued a flat sheet of Acetate over the back with silicon Glue, TOP TIP: cut the backing circle before gluing, other wise, if you do it when it has dried you risk breaking the seal, and ruining your work!

I then placed the globe in the frame, and stuck the image to the back of the frame, pale blue gems to decorate, and loads of glitter for the glint of sunlight on the water.

Sentiment cards

Well the challenge over at Paper Crafting journey, (and we have all had a nice long break, but now back to the grindstone,) is making the sentiment the focus of the card.
So here is my design:

 Simple, and stand out from the crowd. We are sponsored for the coming challenge by Louby Lou Designs, so pop over and check out their website for ideas!


Mine is a 7.5" square base card, some 12x12 Papermania glittered parchment, and matts and layers and a sentiment cut on my E-craft, dont worry I'll get fed up of it soon, lol, NOT!

The whole idea behind the challenge this fortnight is the SENTIMENT, so CAS or not, the sentiment has to be there girls and guys!

Paper Crafting Journey Link up

Well this weeks DT challenge For Paper Crafting Journey is a Link up!!
LINK UP CHALLENGE WITH SEND A SMILE 4 KIDS The theme is Anything goes, but make it kids themed please.
As this is a link up, you are allowed to back link on our challenge site, as a one off!! So because we're linking up with SAS4K, we will be accepting back links from 19 May 2012 but only if you have entered your card into the SAS4K challege!
The prize this week is by Our lovely Ring Mistress, Lisa, and one random winner will receive a £10/$15 gift certificate to the online store of the winner's choice. 

Okay, a Lily of the Valley pre stamped image, coloured with Promarkers, and added Flowersoft. Stash to the rescue for the papers which were torn roughly, and the little piece of pre-embossed card that came with a magazine, was cut into strips, and used to make a border, as you do. And finally an epoxy sentiment, which I think suits the image perfectly, and was in a stack of stash some generous unknown lady gave me, after Christmas!
quick simple, effective I think, and at the moment I am really into these bright clean colours!!

The start of a long night of blogging...........

What a dipstick!!

Well last night caused me some panic I can tell you!!
I had read the new challenge over at Paper Crafting Journey as Monochrome. Well it isn't Monochrome, and here was me with a lovely card, all done and dusted, and it was wrong!!!! And I didnt realise until late last night!!
So a frantic re-do of the card, and I managed to mess up a couple of times, but boy was I stressed!

The Challenge is ACTUALLY BLACK and One Other Colour, but Skin tones are allowed, where needed!
I had done this one in red originally, which I will post later, as it is lovely, but here's my Black and white version!

The Challenge this week is sponsored by Louby Loo, and I am introducing Chef Luigi and you can get him as a transparent digi, or coloured.
So I used a Papermania Birthday Cake stamp, with some Tim Holtz distress ink, Black soot, and some clear embossing powder, on some coated cardstock. It helps to keep the ink wet for embossing when using something like Distress inks, as the ink doesnt soak into the fibres and dry too quickly to the powder to stick.
The I printed Luigi off onto some paper, and used black promarker for his clothing. As skin tones are allowed, I was able to used Almond, Pastel Pink, and Blush for his face and hands. I then cut him out, and placed him on the top of the cake.
the sentiment was printed from my pc, and I punched 2 holes through the sentiment, and used foam pads to raise it slightly. Some black gems for the corners, some Crystal accents for the boots, moustache, and hat, and mount it all onto some Black A4 card, scored down its length.
 A CAS card, and I hope you like it, lol, though I do prefer the red personally, and I'll post it later, so no one gets confused lol, like I did!

Paper Crafting Journey DT card

Well its that time of the week! Another challenge from Paper Crafting Journey! And the Sponsor this week, Is.........
Elizabeth Bell . Elizabeth is an Internationally recognized Illustrator, specializing in Children's images , and did I pick a wonderful image to play with this week.
Okay just lately it has been a bit hard, especially as my hard drive crashed with all my artwork on it, so getting things done was a nightmare, I'm still not up to sped, but, I am getting there! S L O W L Y !
As soon as I saw this little chap I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and for me this is a proper amalgamation of traditional and contemporary card making, so lets see if you can guess exactly what happened:

Stamps, Crafters Companions Adorable winter Range, the Tree from Waiting, the Bannister from Sharing, Bell Horses Lil Cowboy, were the stamps, an amalgamation of rubber and digital stamps! I knew it was going to work the second I saw the image!
so Inks, Ink it up Kelly Green, and Dovecrafts Cocoa Brown, with clear embossing powder.
Promarkers for Lil Cowboy
Aqua markers and Whispers pens for the Stairs and tree.
Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink for the distressing, der!
a piece of First Edition Papers, Festive Treats.
Some Navy organza Ribbon, the bow was crinkled using a heat gun.
Oh and a Gold star gem for the top of the tree!
Actually it does look miles different in real life, I think all the goings on have confused the camera a little, as the Lil Cowboy is much more prominent than this photo suggests!
Hope you like it, I do as for me that's what this crafting business is about, bringing everything together, and working with it all, not just splitting it into sections, and not allowing them to mix.

Okay time to Blog

Right I have had technological nightmares, hence the very short post when I managed to get things together enough to put my pc back inside the case!!
I am in the process of recovering my hard drive, so Loads of stuff is missing, and there's 3 cards that NEEEEEEEED to be blogged, and cards I finished whilst I was tearing my hair out with frustration.
This first post is about the Paper Crafting Journey card, that I was supposed to blog, late last Wednesday night, just as my hdd failed....you can guess I was pretty upset about it all, but luckily I managed to post the picture to PCJ before the whole thing went feet in the air, kicking up the daisies.
This was using a digi from Robyn's Fetish and you can find the stamp I used, Here, as I chose the fruity Strawberry digi for this card. In addition, we were also asked to use 3 different papers for this challenge, and as luck would have it I knew I had received a pack of 6x6" Raspberry road designs, papers, entitled Summer goodness, free with one of my craft magazines.

So 3 papers, a digi stamp, some promarkers, and some Spellbinders.........

Hmmn...............some red card, some DST, and some glitter....................okay!

The card was scored and folded to create a short front and large back, as the idea needed a lot of room, and  support. I used the Spellbinders Edgeabilities edge doily die to scallop the leading edge of the card, and then printed of the digi stamp in reduced repeating pattern and trimmed it using the same die.

I used promarkers to colour the digi and backing paper, but only did the backing paper in a rough style, not being too careful with the colouring.

I then cut the digi image using the Labels 23 die, and then distressed the edges of the stamp, and backing paper with Antique Linen, to remove the whiteness of the page. And layered them onto the front of the card.

Then I turned my attention to the inside of the card.............This was reasonably, easy as I already had the idea in my head.................The papers were needed and also a template from My Craft Studio Advanced Encyclopedia volume 4............Strawberries!!

I placed one sheet of the Raspberry Road papers inside the main Panel, folded another to form a Napkin, and then used the template for the small strawberries twice to create them. Used DST and a quickie glue pen to apply yellow glitter, then quickly printed a sentiment onto a very faded background of real strawberries, and hey presto card done, and I Love it!!!

 I used the digi twice in different forms, and 3 papers, and I think this is such a bright light happy card, problem is I am not one for repeating designs, so whoever gets this will be a very lucky person, hold on what am I saying? Strike that!! I aint giving it to NO-ONE!!!

Pretty in Pastels Challenge

Morning!
Hope everyone having a good day, I am being a bit busy with posts today, as all my DT work seems to be due today, lol
This post is for the Paper Crafting Journey Challenge................Pretty in Pastels Challenge.
This time we were given a couple of images to choose from from the very talented Kenny K ,

and the image I decided Finally, after much indecision was ..............It wasnt me! Digi.

So okay, "It wasnt me", from a kid, now is the kid telling the truth or are they trying to wriggle out of trouble? Can you tell I'm a Mum? lol. So I decided that actually, for once, this kid was telling the truth, which left me with............ Okay whats she telling the truth about?
So off I trot......... Hmmn, front room, to use pastel colours, in the wallpaper, and puppy in trouble? Okay, so why's the puppy in trouble instead of the girl? Hmmn. White carpet and paint!!

This card is a real amalgamation of digital, and physical crafting. Digital Image, Paper pack, paper piecing, stamping, die cutting and distressing! Oh and a tin can!!
I used 3 papers from a freebie pack of 6x6" papers, by Pink Petticoat, Wild Blossom Collection, for the wallpaper, the Puppy and Paw print Stamps are by Personal Impressions, with Big and Juicy Happy Birthday pad, and Dovecraft Cocoa Brown Pigment ink on supersmooth paper.
These I mounted onto my Base card with DST.
I used some scraps, (YES!! I used some scraps, Wey Hey!) for the paint tins, and Lampshade. Promarkers for the paint. And a Piece of loose brown patterned paper for the lampshade base.
I used a tin can to die cut the mirror, and some paper for the sentiment. Dies used: Spellbinders Lacey Ovals, and Labels 20. The sentiment was distressed with Tim Holtz's Milled Lavender Distress ink, and I added a lilac ribbon.

The Image itself was coloured using Promarkers, Blue Pearl, Cornflower, Orchid, Purple, Almond, Indigo Blue, Sun Kissed pink, Ginger Pumpkin, Raw Sienna, and Dusky Rose.
A bit busier than my normal card but I like it, and think its a lovely bit of fun, do pop by the Paper Crafting Journey Blog and see what the rest of my Teamies have come up with, there's some stunners in there, and have a go yourself at the Pretty In Pastels challenge,

Paper Crafting Journey DT card, Anythign Goes

Well its that time again, another Challenge over at Paper Crafting Journey. I must admit it was really hard to choose an image from The Paper Shelter, as they provided us with some absolute stunners! The prize this week is a $20 gift certificate for Paper Shelter images, and they have some Wowzers.
I chose the Rapunzel image for mine, as I had an idea, and something I wanted to use.......

The Paper Shelter offered us coloured images, digi stamps, and backing papers to work with, so if your "no good" at colouring, you still have some nice images to use, which is always a bonus!!
I am reasonable at colouring, mind you I wasn't at school, and I got my Promarkers out and coloured Rapunzel in. I used the Lattice Rectangle Die from Spell Binders, and when I was colouring the wall in I knew exactly what I was going to use.... the other half of Hubby's Lager can!. I had embossed and coloured it a few weeks ago, I was just waiting for the right card to come along!
I used copper and Gold Tim Holtz alcohol inks on the can, and embossed it with the Funky Poinsettia embossing folder by Craft Concepts.
I wanted the backing paper to form the sky behind the tower, and mounted the can with some Silicon glue. Then it was a simple matter to mount Rapunzel in front of the can, and all that remained was to Bling the backing paper a bit, with some Blue Glitter, and some tiny gems. The bow along the top is part of the design by The Paper Shelter.

Paper Crafting Journeys Pink Cat Studio

Well its time for a fresh challenge over at Paper Crafting Journey, and what a treat was in store for the design Team!!
I was hard pressed to choose from the images available, so I took the easy way out! I used both! Pink Cat Studio Digis are so cute and that's the Challenge for this fortnight over at Paper Crafting Journey, Make it Cute.
I used both images available, the Sunshine Fairy, and the Lily Butterfly, and merged them in my Graphics program of choice, My Craft Studio.

So I had Lily, sprinkling Sunshine on the Flowers behind the Butterfly fairy. Next I went to work with my promarkers. In My Craft studio I had also added a frame to the image, from the store of Digi Images I have by My Craft Studio, and bought the Butterfly Fairy outside the frame slightly.

Digi images dont really look very much until you have coloured them to bring them to life, a bit like Rubber stamps., But there's 2 differences with digi as opposed to Rubber stamping, Firstly, you ALWAYS get a perfect Image at the SIZE YOU want with a digi, secondly, you cant drag the ink into position, as you can with a Stamped image or emboss it.
Next for me was to mount the image, which is always a tough decision.........Do you do an ordinary card, a shaped card, and easle, Pop up.. the list seems endless now a days. So I settled for a Twisted easel card. I used a 5x5" square base, and added some foiled card as the mount for the image. I used a piece of paper from a mega pack of K&Co papers, for the base, positioning it so that the butterfly was in the right place. I used some Spellbinders dies to the flowers and leaves, from the Hexagon Petal Grand die, and Rose creations die set. A few small Brads to hold the flowers together, and Pinflaired into position, to hold the easle up for display. A touch of Gold Glitter gel, and you have a pretty, Light card, for late spring early summer.

Paper Craft Journey 2nd Challenge

Hi guys,

well as one of the new design team members I am getting used to how this all works behind the scenes, the things you don't see about the organisation of Challenges and so on.
So here is my second Design team Offering for Paper Crafting Journey!
The theme for this fortnight is.............................Fairies/Angels! the winner will get 2 Digis of their choice from The Emerald Fairie garden, yum yum!

So here's 2 shots of my design.............

 The Beautiful, Happy, Carefree Isla.
 A stunning Digi image, and as soon as I saw her she had to be Floating, I think you can see why?
So I made her Float on Acetate!
Dealing with acetate can make lots of people a bit nervous, me included, as we all know how expensive good acetate can be, but I seem to be using it a lot just lately, so I must be going through a phase, don't worry I'll snap out of it soon. I hope!!
So I have 2 printers, one is completely unreliable, an ink jet which cant be consistent in the colours it prints out in, and a Laser, one of my best buys last year.
So as the ink jet is having a hissy day, I decided to use it to print out a silhouette background, I mean what can it do with black ink only, it cant get into too much trouble just using black can it? So I chose a background Silhouette from My Craft Studio's Floriography Cd, an Acetate wrap number 9. But I printed it onto white paper instead of Acetate.

Phew that worked, so I wiped the sweat off my brow, and had a decision to make.............did I trust it again, with some acetate, or did I switch and use the laser? No sorry didnt have the courage to push it!! I switched to the laser!
So now I imported Isla into My Craft studio, and printed her off onto acetate.
Okay, so I now had a black outlined Fairy on a piece of acetate, and a black and white silhouette on some paper, where to go from here?
I have a Foil-it Machine another best buy from last year, and as Isla was printed out on Heat proof Acetate, I decided to foil her! Out came the foils, of which I really need to invest in some more colours, but Purple was where I was heading, as Silver would have been too cold, gold, not deep enough, green would just have looked wrong, red too red, Purple was the one! So I warmed up the foiler, to 140 degrees for dealing with acetate, and ran Isla through under a sheet of paper. Perfect! Please note foiling only works on a lasered image, not an ink jet image, as you need the toner to make the glue for the foil to stick to!
So that done all I had to do was use some promarkers to colour her with. I am sure there are other pens that will work, as in alcohol but I don't have any of those as yet!
I added some purple to the flowers in the silhouette image, fixed the acetate to the back of some purple Mirri board, matted on the Silhouette image backing, and tied the front of the acetate down with some Purple Ribbon, a bow and 3 pins. I added a purple Holographic Butterfly under the Acetate, and the mounted it onto the centre of an A4 piece of card, scored in half in Portrait orientation.
